Communicating with whales during the
Sacred Swim™ trips

There are boundaries between us, little calf, but our songs meet. Whenever we listen we will hear each other, the soft harmony of two different singes looking at each other through clear water.
~ Spoken by a whale to a young human girl,
in the novel Whale Singer by Welsyn Wilton Katz

Beyond the thrill of just being with the whales, some of the whales choose to bring messages to us--some very personal messages of guidance for the individuals present, some about their own life experiences as whales, and some about the tapestry and purpose of our existence together on earth and beyond. The first time I facilitated a whale swim journey I asked the whales before the trip what they wanted of me, and how I could best serve the people and the whales involved. They said,

"Tell the people coming on the trip that every time a human decides to come on such a journey to be with us in spiritual closeness, we hear their call, the call of their soul reaching out to connect with us. This desire for connection is felt by us, and a whale begins to reach out to them in return. For each person coming, there will be a whale--sometimes in body and sometimes in spirit--who will be available to them for encouragement, support and guidance for their life journey. If the people would like your help in hearing these messages, offer your help in translation. When each person makes the decision to come on the trip, this decision is known by the whales wanting to work and help with people, and they will be waiting."

Beginning with that first trip in 1999, I’ve done what the whales asked me to do each year. Since the majority of the people wanted assistance in hearing the whales, I made myself available to each participant for help with private conversations with the whales. The whales come to these sessions with great love and powerful intention with their offerings of guidance and wisdom, usually about issues of current concern to the human. Yet each communication is different. Some of the whales have long term, intimate past life histories with the humans they come to speak with, while others come for a temporary time for a person, perhaps as short as the duration of the trip, a particular phase in the human’s life, or throughout their current lifetime.

Some of the whales who come to speak with us are in Spirit form, not physical form, while others are most definitely in the whale bodies we interact with during the trip. When we communicate with a soul, Leona, TIki the dog, and Teresa talking to the whales during morning meditation.Leona, TIki the dog, and Teresa talking to the whales during morning meditation. it makes no difference what body that soul may be in, where the animal may be geographically, or whether the soul is currently even in a body. A soul is a soul is a soul. Regardless of a soul’s residence, we can all communicate with one another.

Many people have found the messages offered to them from the whales to be very meaningful and moving, and at times of great practical value. One woman’s story, about changing her life after talking with the whales, was featured on the PAX television show Animal Miracles. The whales who come to us as “guides” have been in both whale and human forms many times. They’ve told me that this is one reason they enjoy providing support to us so much-- they know what it’s like to live a human life on earth, the inherent challenges of this choice and truly want to help us in our own life journeys here. Being part of translating and passing on the guidance the whales have for participants’ individual life journeys has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

So the communication support I provide now for this trip (which is included in the trip fee) includes a webinar on telepathic animal communication and my CD Speaking with the Souls of Animals, Guided Meditation and Energetic Preparation for Telepathic Animal Communication. A new CD, a guided meditation to connect with the whales with the sounds of whale breaths throughout is being created. And informal, one on one coaching on board for anyone who desires help in having conversations with the whales. Some evenings, when the group desires it, we sit in a circle in the dining room or under the stars on the deck and contact one or more of the whales we’ve had encounters with that day. This usually involves individuals in the group asking questions which I pose to the whale, receive the response and verbally pass this on to the group. One example of this is was having a long conversation with a very special whale named Uncle after we had hours of encounters with him that day.
